Nutrition education
Dodge City Middle School will participate in the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for Secondary Schools. Starting on November 10, our school will choose 4 fruits and 4 vegetables from the pre-determined list (see below) for 8 tastings. A one-page nutrition fact sheets has been provided for each of the listed fruits and vegetable. The nutrition facts include information on how the produce is grown, nutrition tidbits, how to incorporate the fruit or vegetable into a diet, a food safety tip, and an external web link for further exploration. Our school will use the fact sheets handouts and tip sheets during advisory as part of the tasting experience. Students can use iPads to explore the interactive Thinglink posted below to play videos, visit websites and play games during the 4 week program. As a part of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program students will need to complete a pre and post survey (provided by KSDE). This survey will measure opinions about eating fruits and vegetables.
Students must complete the pre survey prior to starting. There is also a post survey that students will need to complete after the program is finished.
